Toishi Hachiman-gu Shrine〔遠石八幡宮〕

This historic shrine was founded in 708. The worship hall is built in the traditional architectural style of Yamaguchi Prefecture, and both the worship hall and holy water basin have been registered as national tangible cultural properties. The bell, which is registered as a cultural property of the city of Shunan, was hit by stray arrows in the battle just before the Battle of Dan-no-ura and was rebuilt in 1320 with a new bell.
